1.0 Project Initiation

Project initiation is the first phases of the project management life cycle and in this stage, companies decide if the project is needed and how beneficial it will be for them .

Business Case : 這個project 划算嗎? Feasibility Study : 這件事值得做嗎?

2.0 Project initiation process

  • Business Case

    • Explain why the project is necessary and how it will succeed.
  • Feasibility Study

    • Research the reason for the project and determine if it will succeed
  • Project Charter

    • How will the project be structured and executed?
  • Team

    • Find the people with the right skills and experience to execute the project.
  • Project Office

    • Where the project manager and support staff are located to assist with projects.
  • Review

    • Review the initiation phase and keep treviewing progress throughout the project .

3.0 Who Participates in the Project initiation process

  • Project Sponsor (Boss)

    • Executive or senior leader who oversees project and gets its approval
  • Project Manager (Manager)

    • Leading the project from initiation to completion
  • Project Stakeholders (House Owner, Supplier, People)

    • Individuals or groups who have vested interest in the success of the project
  • Steering Committee (Board of Directors or Bosssss)

    • A group of key stakeholders or senior executives .

4.1 Project charter

Project charter outlines the purpose o the project and how it'll be structured and executed . In it the vision, objectives , scope and deliverables for the project are detailed. Responsibilities for the project team and stakeholders are also described.

4.2 PID ( Project Initiation Document)

PRINCE2 framework

A project initiation document is used to define the project elements that need stakeholder approval such as the business case , scope, risks, success criteria and other important project initiation aspects.

4.3 BRD (Business Requirements Document)

Business needs and requirements that the project is supposed to meet and acts as a formal agreement between stakeholders on what the project will deliver. The BRD helps ensure alignment among the project team, stakeholders and client.

4.4 Project Brief

A project Overview , summarizes , scope , gives stakeholders and the project team a better understanding of the project's goals and purpose.

4.5 Project Proposal

Is more formal document. The project's objectives, scope, timeline , estimated budget and expected outcomes. It's typically used to gain approval or funding from clients decision-makes.

4.6 RACI ( Responsibility Assignment Matrix)

  • R (Responsible) = Works
  • A (Accountable) = Manager
  • C(Consulted) = Client
  • I (Informed) = Boss
